We are Kati Rolls
So what are Kati Rolls
Kati rolls are street-food originating from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. This popular dish is said to have been made by Nizams in the early 1930’s. Initially just known as rolls, the name kathi roll is said to have come after Nizam’s made a switch from iron skewers to bamboo sticks (locally called kati) to grill the kebabs. In response to the roll’s growing popularity, iron skewers were replaced, as they are heavy and unsuitable for large-scale production of kebabs. But what is known today as a kati roll has little to do with the kind of skewer used and more to do with whether it is wrapped in a paratha(Indian flatbread). The flatbreads are layered with/without beaten egg and the kebab/filling is stuffed in with sliced onions and sauces.Unlike Mexican burritos, kati rolls are packed with more meat, which makes them a filling and healthy protein-filled meal.
